Our Methodology
The World Cup of Sleep is not a medical organization. We are performance analysts tracking the global collapse of human rest.
Data Sources
We aggregate telemetry from publicly available epidemiological data, national health surveys, and anonymized wearable tech reports. Primary sources include:
- World Health Organization (WHO) Global Health Observatory
- Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) BRFSS Data (US baseline)
- Sleep Cycle and Oura ring public whitepapers (anonymized macro trends)
- Journal of Clinical Sleep Medicine (JCSM) meta-analyses
Scoring The Bracket
Nations are ranked not just on total duration, but on a composite score derived from:
- Average Duration: Heaviest weighting. Baseline requirement is 7.0 hours.
- Reported Insomnia Rates: Percentage of population reporting chronic difficulty initiating or maintaining sleep.
- Sleep Efficiency: Time asleep vs time in bed (where available via wearable data sets).
The "AI" Disclaimer
This site is hand-crafted. Our graphics are authored SVGs, not generated slop. Our copy is written to convey precise, actionable mechanics regarding human biology. We reject the generic, rounding-everything, purple-gradient aesthetic of modern "tech" sites in favor of athletic telemetry.
